At Jellcor we strive to provide simple and cost effective solutions.
While adding a blog for this website I reviewed several options. For a moment, I considered Wordpress, or the latest DotNetNuke blog module. Either one of these would be hosted here at Jellcor.com and would add a degree of flexibility that a I might not otherwise have. The question is, why bother? I am not a design guru trying to show off my ability. I am a business person that is trying to attract customers to Jellcor.com. By framing in a blogger module I'll get better exposure and a simpler interface.
The exercise of considering what to do got me thinking about the Kiss Principle (Keep It Simple Stupid).
In business, as in life it is often tempting to get complicated. Sometimes we believe that we are building a better mouse trap, and other times it is just for the "cool factor". Whatever the motivation, you should add a lot of weight to the simplest solution.
Often times the road less traveled leads to a minefield.
